Today we’d like to introduce you to Kasia Wereszczynska and Matt Glowiak.
Though a relatively new business, the story of counseling speaks’ founding begins many years prior with two individuals who were passionate about helping others. Though from different backgrounds and experience, their missions were the same–to instill hope in everyone. Fifteen years ago Kasia, MA, LCPC, RYT began working in crisis intervention. From that point she began her history of working in various settings including the mental health court system with Cook County Jail, hospital emergency rooms, community mental health agencies, schools and both inpatient/outpatient psychiatric hospital settings. She has provided counseling to a culturally diverse population serving the South Side of Chicago and the North Shore area.
Matt, PhD, LCPC, CAADC, NCC earned his Master’s in Mental Health Counseling and has a doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision. With his degrees he took on a focus both as a clinician and an academic. He has been published in multiple refereed journals, magazine and newsletter articles, and textbook chapters. Further, he is actively engaged in public speaking. As a clinician Matt has experience working with diverse individuals of all ages in home, clinical, outpatient, and college campus settings. He has worked with clients who present a variety of concerns and issues with substance use disorders being his specialty. Both have also served as faculty for various colleges and universities.
How Kasia and Matt came to be, though, began through their work in leadership. Kasia is Past President of the Chicago Counseling Association (CCA), and Past President of Illinois Association of Multicultural Counseling (IAMC), among others. She is also the Founder of in Her Shoes Foundation a 501c (3) organization that brings together women of all ages and backgrounds to inspire, connect, educate and support the development and maintenance of a healthy and positive lifestyle. Matt is Past President of the Chicago Counseling Association (CCA), former Executive Council Member of Illinois Counseling Association (ICA), and Counselor Community Engagement (CCE) Committee Chair for Chi Sigma Iota (CSI) International, etc. To read more from Voyage Chicago, click here.
